The traveler guide

Thirty minutes with someone who knows, and a list to keep.

A Key call puts you on a video call with a hand-picked expert for the place you’re going. You talk, you look at a shared map together, and you leave with the places they’d send a friend to. Five short steps, each with a walk-through you can watch with sound.

Step 1

Find your expert

Every expert on Explore knows their city first-hand. Choose a city, or what matters most to you, and the people who fit come first. Each card shows who you’d be talking to; the heart saves them for later.

A profile tells you their story, what they know, and the places they’ve recommended lately, so you can tell before you book whether they’re your kind of person.

Step 2

Book a time

Choose the length of the call, then a day and a time. Times are shown in your own time zone, and only ever when your expert is genuinely free.

New to Key? Make an account with your email or with Google, and the time you picked comes with you to one last page, where you check the details and pay. Cancel with 48 hours’ notice for a full refund, or half back with 24. If your expert cancels, you’re always refunded in full.

Step 3

Before the call: your desk

Booking opens your desk, one shared page for you and your expert. Tell them about the trip: the dates, where you’re staying, who’s coming, what you love. Paste links and photos, and put the places you’re curious about on the map. Your expert reads it before you meet, so the call starts where you are.

Join opens fifteen minutes before the start, on your dashboard and in the reminder email.

Step 4

The call

The call happens in your browser, with nothing to install. Your expert is on one side, the chat on the other, and the shared map waits in the top bar: hover it, or tap it, and choose where it goes. Only your screen changes, and when your expert wants to show you something, it opens for you with a short note.

Every place they highlight becomes a numbered pin. The call is recorded and transcribed, so there’s nothing to write down.

Step 5

After the call: your list

When the call ends, the desk keeps all of it: the replay, the transcript (click any line to jump to that moment), the map, and every place in one list. Highlighted is what was kept; Mentioned is everything else that came up, a tap from being highlighted.

Open each place in Google Maps or Apple Maps, share the list, or download it for Google My Maps. Come back whenever you like. The desk stays.
